Hello Barry and all,
Sorry OM, you have two (minor) mistakes there. The original proposal was
not to move the Amateur allocation as you seem to indicate but to extend
it down to 6.9Mc. The reason for tis was the last remaing HF telephone
links in ITU region 1 had finally abandoned it. Aparantly someone didn't
know that Australia still uses that segment for other services. Frankly I
didn't either, all I hear around there besides some weak unidentifiable
signals that sound vaguely like some sort of data bursts are a few pirate
broacasters in the US which come on unexpectedly for very short intervals
playing cat and mouse with the FCC.
Your own statement appears to indicate that the ACA is well aware of
services assigned to that segment, so broadcasters aren't of any concern.
Besides the pirates, I have never heard a broadcaster below 7.1Mc anyway.
i hope these comments clear up any possible misunderstanding and quash
any more squabbling before it starts. BTW, how do you abbreviate "fed up"
in CW, FU? (;->)
