AM Does Anyone use this mode?

Saw this a few times on the local BBS, and I guess I too have a
comment, as to why perhaps WE < Amateur Operators > should be
thinking about using "AM".
I guess the big reason that it is not used, is if you are coming
thru systems where people don't want to hear you .... i.e. TVs.
OR ... Perhaps SSB etc are better for getting thru to your
contact somewhere in our shrinking chunk of " censored" called EARTH.
If there is a reason to use it,. I think it would attract people
to listen to Amateur Radio Stations on the air, via Short Wave Radio
sets.... Imagine the problems faced by a majority of people with
radios ....Unless it does it all for them...they will not listen.
So if you use SSB "duck talk" they will not bother to tune you in.
I got to see the archives of a Ham ..been on since 1920s, and well
there was a lot of SWL'ers writting to him ...lots of fun ...and
this went up until SSB was introduced.... So someone take it from there.
I admit I have only used AM on 160meters...and never since then.
But if it gets SWL'ers participating...etc, then sure I'll become
an AM'er ....
