"Clever clogs"? Maybe down under they clog pipes being under reverse
gravity conditions (see my bull Lost In Space) nut here they're called
"clods" referring to a clod of dirt. Food for thought?
OK, NTSC uses AM for the video and FM for the audio, but we call it TV,
not AM, that's what's found between 530 and 1700Kc "on your AM radio
dial". OK, some ATV systems modulate video FM...
Still a Collins 20V tuned for 160M using a pair of 4-400s modulated by a
pair of 4-400s puts out >AM< and not "double sideband full carrier" as
that's another modulator entirely as is PWM which is interpreted by a
receiver as AM. Doesn't anybody study basic engineering to further
understanding of Amateur Radio anymore? Geez, I did while I was in High
School and it ain't hard for a kid spending an hour after school at the
local library. I simply wanted to know how that signal I was listening to
on the radio got there.
Now for some "expert" clarification, the OTs call it AM because they
built much of thier AM rigs and know how that "mod iron" deals with the
DC on the plate of the FPA. These appliance operators (must confess that
due to changing times I have become one) actually are correct in calling
it double sideband full carrier because when the SSB modulator is
unbalanced it produces that sort of signal. Low level or high level
modulation, the result is the same, AM.
"GEE! So, THAT'S what happens when I turn the knob from SSB to AM?"
