Hi Pete and all,
Getting back on track (sorta) last night I watched a TV program on the
cable Discovery Health channel about the obesity problem but nothing I
really didn't already know. One segment about fast food joints showed
part of the problem, upsizing portions. What amazed me (because I never
buy one) was the enormity of "super sized" drink cups, the 7-11 Super Big
Gulp being the largest holds half a gallon! Frankly I couldn't manage
that much soda as if I like soda to begin with! Then it went on to sugar
in foods, it's in everything including salads! Now you know another
reason to avoid McD's besides greasy glop loaded with indigestible
fillers. Although I will on very rare occasions eat a bite at Booger
Fling being they grill the burgers and their fries are the best I've
never been inside a Toxic Hell since Tex-Mex doesn't appeal to me and I'm
not keen on things exploding in my gut... I gave up White Castle even
back when I had a cast iron stomach.
Speaking of your local, family run diner, the one down in Warren Grove is
your typical greasy spoon but everything is home made so it beats the
rest hands down. Now they know what home fries are, those fresh spuds cut
into chunks and done on a back corner of the grille. I rather miss the
place, even when I lived in West Creek it was a bit of a long drive but
entertaining when the National Guard was training in F-16s overhead. FYI,
they come out of an airport just outside Atlantic City, I believe the
unit is the 115th NJANG.
Oh, screwing around with lyrics is an old pastime with me, back when I
hacked around with a garage band doing vocals it was all ad lib on the
spot and I cracked everybody up. I think the funniest adventure was when
we took over another band's instruments (they went on break) at a CB
"coffe break" where I butchered the heck out of Wild Thing. Next we knew
they were chasing us all around the parking lot in the rain, it was
hillarious!
Eh, so you still haven't gotten your eyeballs around Northern Word but
did you forward it to Glen? So far he's made no mention, just curious.
I'm just a little ahead of my e-mail so I'll find out about today's
installment a bit later.
Maybe we should shove this stuff over to the OM Network rather than
continually hijacking this thread?
