"Gingernuts Biscuits (recipe #1)

typed by Michael ZL1ABS

Ingredients

4 ounces (100 grams) Butter
2 ounces (50 grams) Light Brown Sugar
3 Tablespoons Golden Syrup
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda dissolved in 1 Tablespoon Boiling Water
9 ounces (250 grams) Plain Flour
Pinch of Salt
1 1/2 level teaspoons Ground Ginger

Instructions

Cream butter, sugar, and golden syrup together. Add soda dissolved in
boiling water. Add sifted dry ingredients. Roll into small balls. Place on
cold greased trays and brush each biscuit with cold water. Bake slowly 20
to 30 minutes at 350 Fahrenheit (170 degrees Celsius)."

From my mother's old New Zealand cookery book (1956 edition), printed by a
maker of baking powder, custard powder, cornflour and jelly crystals.
