Recipe from my mother's [Beverly Sheffield] 1956 cookbook.
Ingredients
3 egg whites
2 Cup (250g or 9oz) Castor Sugar
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon Essence of Vanilla
1 teaspoon Vinegar
Instructions
Beat egg whites and salt until quite stiff, fold in sugar, add vanilla and
vinegar. Place on a greased tray and bake very slowly about 1 to 1 1/2
hours at 125 degrees Celsius or 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Pile whipped cream
and chopped fruit on top and decorate with Jelly (chopped).
