"Bournvita Biscuits
typed by Michael ZL1ABS
Ingredients
4 ounces (100 grams) Butter
2 ounces (50 grams) Sugar
3 heaped Teaspoons Sweetened Condensed Milk
6 ounces (150 grams) Plain Flour
2 tablespoons Bournvita
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
Instructions
Cream butter, sugar, and condensed milk together. Add flour, baking powder
and Bournvita. Roll into balls. Place on cold greased trays, flatten with
a fork. Bake 20 minutes at 375 Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius)."
From my mother's old New Zealand cookery book (1956 edition), printed by a
maker of baking powder, custard powder, cornflour and jelly crystals.
[Beverly Sheffield]
Bournvita is a "chocolate type" powdered drink commonly available in the
UK, New Zealand and other locations. A little less "strong" than straight
baking cocoa, which could be used if Bournvita isn't available.
