Hello eaters, some of which you are...
Let me get at just one angle of food. "Meat"
( well, your right with your obsevation that Vegetables have
lost alot over the last decades or so)...Should be
interresting to hear what the "Vegetarians " hate to say
about that.
Here , in South Africa we experienced, that a lot of
overseas visitors, say from Germany noticed that the Meat
put on a Barbecue stayed visible after ,and didn't shrink to
a minicule bit fit for a toothpick.
But then, remember Great(!) Britain , must be the 50/60s. I
saw the Ads myself somwhere : There where machines
advertised for Butchers : Why sell meat when you can sell
water?
And apparently these sort of tumblers where used to increase
the water contend of meat, chickens and whu. At these times
there where not illegal.
Today , it i said that, hormones , additives and who knows,
is added to the Meat when still alive. Also Cow,Pig, Poultry
and whatever. and the meat - still retaining some taste-
shrinks to somthing our best slimmers prefer when cooked.
Look, our eating habits change, today a pig is lean and mean
and should look as a wiener from even up close, alive and
dead as well.
It might be only us... say the above 50, who hunger for the
old tastes. The youth of today...look at them. they do not
represent what we considered good food. No clear minded
American eats/takes any sugar for tea/coffe. Most youth is
pictured only in a thinned out fashion anyway.
Look here old man , I have still ADS in an old " Electrical
- Experimenter " from 1917 = DONT BE THIN , and it will sell
you something to fatten u up.
Remember , these where times a lot of Ilnesses weren't
invented yet. People where happy and prosperous -if no War
intervened- and died earlier b4 all the other unpleasant
side effects took hold.
Food , there is a lot to write about, but lets contain that
only to the changes of the last 50 years or so.
I myself eat because I want to stay alive, the French - and
maybe others- Live for the food, they eat as a way of
vieving the world, to enjoy the most it has to offer.
Ahh... and as you said , they finding it harder and harder
now as progress is made.
Yes, I agree , it is a strange world. For some of its
inhabitants it is a question of religion and maybe even
more.
Some say : You are WHAT you eat...probably true to some
point.
Ohhh, by the way : have you ever seen a happy Vegetarian?
