Getting the KamPlus to work with WinFBB !.

With helpfull Minds.

I would like to thank all the following persons for their Technical
help and patience in helping to supply me with most of the input
concerning the setting up of Kamplus to work with WinFBB.

Patrice, FK8KAB@FK8KAB.#NEA.NCL.OC
Rudolf, HS0AC@HS0AC.#PWT.BKK.THA.AS
Trevor, VK5ATB@VK5ATB.#BVL.#SA.AUS.OC

The Operating system is Win95 or Win89 and the following steps are
intended to get you in the ball park of setting up the two com ports
of the KamPlus to work with WinFBB.
We assume that you have already installed WinFFB on your computer
and your main hard drive is at the route of C: to which you have
installed WinFBB in C:\FBB as well as this we assume you have setup
in the first instance in the install config program the ports etc,
so as to have the kamplus working as VHF port com 1 and HF port
com 2.

There is to be a few more pages to follow concerning getting started
with WinFBB and the Kamplus to which You will need the following
program to begin the " Prepping of the Kamplus " this is the program
Pacterm which should have come with your kamplus but if not here is
a link to go to, to download this program now.

Download PACTERM 2.0 at
Kantronics Co., Inc.Homepage Click on Link to Go.

Note: CMD: INTFACE TERMINAL
is the command line for changing the Kamplus hardware setting
within the Kamplus.

It has to be noted that the word " INTFACE TERMINAL " is for
the Kamplus hardware setting only to which you will be editing
in using the commands in " INTFACE TERMINAL ".
To which this is what we will now be preparing to do "re programing "
so here now are the easy few steps you will need to take.

Here now are your few steps of getting your KAMPLUS ready to use
with FBB !

Prepping the KAMPLUS !.

1) First you must remove the battery inside the KAMPLUS and make
a complete reset with all power to the kamplus off and disconnected.
Then after 10 mins or so put the battery backup back in again and
use the PACTERM (program supply with the KAMPLUS)
Now we are going to " Prep " the Kamplus with all the new commands
   that you will need.
You may have to repeat and do the above reset a few times to get the
Kamplus to clear its memory if you have difficulty the main problem
is you may not have given enough time for the Kamplus to have reset
and clear its old memory so repeat this setup again right from the
   start !

----------------------------------------------------------------------

First get the program " Pacterm " up and running follow through on
it and go into the main command menu of " Pacterm " by using the F9
key on your computer keyboard to now go to " TNC command mode " of
the Pacterm program and then enter the command " INT TERM " which
is short for the wording for INTFACE TERMINAL then enter these
   following commands :

   MYCALL VK????Your own callsign here
   MYALIAS %
   MYNODE %
   MYPBBS %
   MYGATE %
   MYSELCAL %
   PBBS 0
   INT HOST

When you have finished entering all the above commands using the
"Pacterm" program on the last line of your now new commands list
at INT HOST , you will need to leave the PACTERM program properly
in order to save all these new commands to your Kamplus.

This means that you will have to get back to the main menu in the
PACTERM program and then exit from there.
DO NOT EXIT directly from the TERMINAL MENU within the Pacterm
program as your work will not be saved..

    The [ Inttnc.sys ] File !.

Now with these new commands done in the Prepping of your Kamplus
eprom we move on to the second stage to which you are now going
to tell WinFFB where to find the comports on your Kamplus to
which you are going to make [ Two files ] called [ INTTNC1.SYS ]
    & [ INTTNC2.SYS ].

Now you will have to make two new files to drive your Kamplus
HF/VHF ports on the back of your kamplus to do this you will have
    to make two files called and name them [ INTTNC1.SYS ]& [ INTTNC2.SYS ].

But first go into C:\FBB\SYSTEM and find the file called
[ Inttnc.sys ] this file is already in your WinFBB directory as
    it was installed by WinFBB.
Take this file out and just put it in a safe place somewhere
on you hard drive for the moment but make a working copy of this
file and put the working copy into a temp directory as we
are going to now use this working copy to make 2 files called
    [ INTTNC1.SYS ] & [ INTTNC2.SYS ].

Now is the time boot up the WinFBB program and dont worry about any
errors you get at this time Go into the program "WinFBB" and at the
top right corner click on the Icon " edits a system file" this will
bring up your editor within WinFBB scroll down the files and find the
file called [ Inttnc.sys ] highlight and cut out all the Text on this
file then copy from the clip board the first New [ INTTNC1.SYS ]
file as seen below and save it to C:\FBB\SYSTEM

Do this a second time and name it [ INTTNC2.SYS ] and save this
second file as [ INTTNC2.SYS ] again into C:\FBB\SYSTEM to make sure
you now have Two [ Inttnc.sys ] which should be named as

    [ INTTNC1.SYS ]

    [ INTTNC2.SYS ]

These files should now be in the following directory C:\FBB\SYSTEM
To see these files you can do this from within the Editor of WinFBB
or you can cut back to windows and go to the main directory of
C:\FBB\SYSTEM to see for yourself if these 2 New files will now have
replaced your old Inttnc.sys files to which you now have got 2 new
[ .SYS ] files for each port of the Kamplus.
Quit out of th WinFBB editor and close down WinFBB.

    The VHF/HF .SYS commands Files.
The following HF/VHF files are only examples but remember that the VHF
Port on the Kamplus is on " Port 1 "and the HF port is on " Port 2 "
    of your Kamplus.

The above files will do packet on each of the two com ports of
your kamplus using WinFBB to which at the first encounter is
good to see as this tells you that you have now got things working.
Both these files can be edited at any time to suit your own requirements
or fine tune these commands in each of
the TWO [ Inttnc1.sys ] & [ Inttnc2.sys ] files that you did for
each port of your Kamplus for your own use.

Summary of the HF/VHF port commands Files !.

The HF Port 2 file are Packet commands and are the same as the
above file for the VHF Port 1 and are only examples
of how to setup these commands for use with your kamplus and WinFBB
program so as WinFBB can communicate with your
Kamplus com ports for the first time.
This is done by running WinFBB and from the Local connection within
the console window of the WinFBB Program you can
connect to yourself and do a " G " Gateway command and if everything
is correct WinFBB will have listed the two
com port as 1, 2, to which you would have already have told WinFBB
to do this in the main config install program.

This is very important to see this for the first time as it lets
you know without any doubt that you can now issue a connect
command to each of the 2 com ports and the kamplus will respond
by showing the correct led on the port of the kamplus
that you are issueing a connect command on .....so at least now
you have got the Kamplus and WinFBB talking.

>END<

The above is taken from my own web site and I would thank the persons
for all there helpfull input keep watching for more updates to come
concening the Kamplus and WinFBB.

Best Regards
Peter VK8PDG
