80 Metre Counties Contest
Unfortunately band conditions were very poor for last
weekend's 80 metre counties contest. Band noise was very
high and propagation conditions were very poor. In
addition, the good summer weather, the World Cup and the
US open provided alternative attractions leading to a
small turnout of stations.
A few stalwarts stuck it out for the full three hours and
probably worked anyone participating in the contest. The
result should be interesting.
Participating stations please send your logs to the
contestmanager@irts.ie

Increased Power for Contests
The Society is continuing to pursue with ComReg the
question of securing increased power for the duration of
contests on a list of international HF and VHF contests
still to be finalised. In order to take this matter
further, ComReg wish to have submitted a list of licensed
amateurs who would be interested in getting permission to
operate with increased power for the contests concerned.
Anyone who wishes to have their name included on this
list should e mail the contest manager Thos Caffrey EI2JD
at contestmanager@irts.ie or to thoscaffrey@hotmail.com
