Hi David and all,

It surely is FB if some enjoy IRLP provided they do not disturb others and to
my knowledge IRLP does not disturb anyone. It is just another mode in Amateur
radio, just like CW and SSB are. Remember the fights that fans of AM had when
SSB was introduced? Some brain damaged "hams" were calling SSBers all the
names. Same happens with IRLP. So Ian please keep up the good work. We are
with you OM, even if we are not mad about IRLP, it surely brings radio hams
around the world closer mixing new and old technology. I still enjoy HF
operating and infact I love operating portable HF when I trek on the mountains
with my FT817 but I also enjoy APRS, portable packet radio, portable PACTOR
etc. I hate contest but it does not mean that I should call the contesters all
the names. Or the IOTA hunters all the names! Amateur radio is a hobby and we
should enjoy ourselves and be friendly with the other folks. Let the others
enjoy themselves too.

As for PACKET RADIO losing ground, this is because most SYSOPS around the
world put out so many restrictions to users (sysoping shows the true beliefs
of some people who believe they are gods or little dictators) that eventually
drove users to other modes, otherwise PACKET would be still in good use by
radio amateurs around the globe. Now the users do not use PACKET anymore and
use PSK31 etc, which are only chat modes really, whereus PACKET RADIO is not
only good for chatting but for e-mail exchange, DX-CLUSTER, APRS and many
applications. Yes APRS is still PACKET RADIO whether you like it or not. It
uses AX25 UI FRAMES to operate. AX25 is PACKET RADIO.

Finally stupid comments such as "stop quotting messages, or stop typing in
capitals or in lower case" or trying to be clever should be beyond radio
amateurs. We are all here to enjoy our hobby, not to be racist or call
Italians all the names because one Italian is being stupid. There are Brits
who are stupid, Greeks who are stupid americans who are idiots, Russians who
are idiots etc. Also most of Italians, Greeks, Brits, americans, Russians etc
ar OK.

The basic rule is that Amateur Radio is here to tighten the relations and
friendship around this planet guys!
