Packet News No.57 Dated. Compiled by Ron GU4XGG/GP4IPA
Some News from Mike G7UTS.I hope you are all keeping well, and that the
Winter is being kind to yourhealth. I know some of you have been away or
are away in other climes, wishingyou a speedy return to your native land,if
you so desire. I should be studyingMorse,I know, but I do find it sends me
to sleep after about 15 minutes, and itis very difficult to motivate
myself. Have just read your last NewsletterRon,sat here in the
shack, looking out over the Gordano Valley, with FRG'scubicle quad peering
through the mist.So I thought I'd pass on this amusing incident which
happened at HQ on Friday. Student on Final Test,of a 4 week Driving
Course, about to set off on the Pursuit stage, chasing the Target car driven
by an Instructor.Another Instructor sat alongside, new A.C.C. in the
back, who had just enquired whether there are many Polacs on the driving
courses,to be reassured,"We've never had one during the Pursuit stage
Sir." All doors close, target moves off. Before Student even releases
handbrake, target car returns, travelling backwards at speed, and promptly
crashes into the front of the School car. Target driver leaps out,and
starts to give the student some firm advice about being ready for anything
at anytime.The student
replies that the A.C.C. was talking to him at the time. The A.C.C. was
heard to say,to the Target driver as he was getting out the car,"I'll put
that theory to the test, see you in my office in 2 minutes" hi hi.

Makes a change to get News from someone other than me.Please note and
copy.
Received a very good addition to the IPARC Data Base today from Brian TRE
I wish I had ,had that when going for my "Sherlock Holmes Gold Award" I
spent longer on the paperwork than I did working stations from the
award. The DB is available from TRE PGA or self on receipt of formatted
Disk and return
SASE and remember TRE or PGA may be better for you as British Postage
Stamps do not work in GU we have our own !!!
On Sundays at 1600hrs and 1900hrs if not on 3.763 look on 3.773 or 3.753
as I find a short QSY gets me no where. We had Three stations up at 1600hrs
and ten stations up at 1900hrs. yesterday Sunday 21stJan. but conditions
fell foo quite a bit when the skip distance lengthened during the net.
The SYSOP of GB7GSY will be introducing a new to GB7GSY "Carbon" soon by
Per LA6CU.It will enable me to change the "Carbon" and so relieve the
SYSOP of that chore. So if I get mail returned I will send one more then a
follow up private message and if still no answer drop the station from the
"Carbon"
At a suggestion from Mike PGA if I do receive the "Monitor" from Will W1WA
in the US as it will be rather long for packet I will make it available on
my PC for access by Fax, my PC is on 01481-46520 Fax from 2300hrs to
0800hrs approx. and is 28,800 baud. But have had no news yet of the
"Monitor"
I had better bring it to a close before the Sysops along the route get at
me.One last point if you are trying to "Digi" through to Guernsey our
connection node to the UK has to go off from time to time as it is "An
attended Node and the Keeper Mike Gu8IRF who has done a lot of work for
our links is now back in employment after a long period off on the sick.
LOOK AFTER YOURSELF IT CAN BE DANGEROUS OUT THERE ON THE STREETS
