Hi Hans and readers,

Fishing boat radio violations are nothing new. In the days when 2.6Mc AM
was routinely used for port operations I heard them on 80M. Then there
was the time they used pre 1957 Ham rigs on 11M CB running well above the
5W legal limit. Now that VHF is used they stray from the 157Mc marine
band and use 160Mc railroad frequencies. Trains at sea? (;->) NOW HEAR
THIS, CAPTAIN TO CREW! I even hear them on underused COAST GUARD
frequencies!

BTW, the Coast Guard has nothing to do with radio operations in the US at
least, violations IF noted have to be referred to the FCC as official
complaints as any other. Inspectors do not inspect radio equipment, on
air violations must be noted and logged.
