Hi all,
Just as a matter of interest, does anyone know the stages of the
refining of OIL.
I believe Petrol comes last in the chain.

When I was in the RAF we used two types of fuel for the Jet Fighters.

AVTUR Which was a refined Paraffin
AVTAG Which was a refined Paraffin but with a flash point near to Petrol

With the latter, we had to bond the Bowser to the Aircraft , and the
Aircraft to the ground , also bond the Bowser to the ground. This was to
avoid Static flashover.
The filler hose was also bonded to the fuel tank. All this before we could
start re fueling. A bit of a palarva when we were on Scramble Standby.

As far as I remember the Flash point of the fuel was about 45 deg F so on
a hot day it was at flash point.

Cheers
