A very good point, Barry. Now we have had ice ages and all sorts of ages
with their attendant changes to the climate, and the land itself in the
past. Islands have disappeared below the sea and some places that were
under the sea are now high and dry. They say the Sahara used to be Garden
of Eden. What happened? Excessive clearing by the Egyptians 3000 years
ago? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe it was just part of the cycle and nothing
would have stopped it.It couldn't have been greenhouse gases as we poor
mortals weren't even here. Maybe there is a cycle under way and we should
expect change. The sea front where I live is disappearing metre by metre
into the Southern Ocean. Greenhouse gases? Not likely; it's been going on
for centuries. the shape of the coastline was changing long before the
white man hit this part of the world.
