Hello Ian,
I have seen that dingo fence and yes, it is rather long. That Amateur
overlooked the gates and damaged sections. I have serious doubts the wire
was continuous over the entire length, likely only a few miles at most.
I hate to burst your bubble, but that brag was just a bit misleading.
While having nothing to do with a super long antenna, I remember a few
years ago some Hams using the antennas at the defunct VOA transmitter
site in Bethany Ohio. They connected into the switchgear and used some of
the highest gain HF antennas in the world before the station was
demolished.
Now I'm wondering if any have tried the antennas at the defunct AT&T
coastal HF station in Ocean Gate NJ, WOO, or the old RCA station in West
Creek, WSC. OH! GAWD! I would LOVE to have use of that site with all
those wire antennas back in the swamp and I'm sure I could find a use for
the 300' LF tower!
