Hello Bob,
Sorry chum, you're confused. Ken was talking about setting up an electric 
field in the soil around the stakes as earth is actually a semiconductor. 
It has nothing to do with antennas or SLF operation as I had described. 
You are thinking of induction, an air core transformer. That building 
system uses a magnetic, not an electric field. You described a closed 
loop, the primary of the transformer.
BTW, that same electric field is set up in the earth by a lightning 
strike or a down power line only at extreme voltage. That's why people 
have been killed by lightning without having been struck and why one 
should never aproach a down wire even if it looks harmless. Automatic 
equipment can restore power unexpectedly.
