Ken seems to be talking of the same effect as comes from an audio loop in
a public building. Amplifier output fed into a loop going right round the
outside of the building at floor level. Listeners sit in the audience
inside the loop and listen on their hearing aids with T switch on, or else
using a pair of headphones fitted with a detector at audio frequency. Had
the system in our church for about 25 years. Still works.
