Hello Kevin and fellow prats,
"Correcting" the demonstrator's "problem" reminds me of a similar, well,
sort of situation with a loudspeaker demonstrator. We brought our "test
records" to a shop and were listening to them in the sound room when the
salesman of course came in. We were running an A/B comparison on some
very high priced speakers with a kilowatt amp and the lower priced ones
actually sounded better than the top of the line he was pushing. Very
inefficient, and he got mad because we called them dummy loads. We kept
telling him they just weren't loud enough, so he cranked everything to
the max. POOF! The fuses blew right off and we started laughing, NOT LOUD
ENOUGH! He couldn't figure out how a full KILOWATT wasn't loud enough and
the cheaper speakers nearly ripped our clothes off and caused bleeding
from orifices. A box of fuses later we walked out commenting between
ourselves about those over priced dummy loads and got a handful of spent
fuses thrown at us, which naturally broke us up laughing.
BTW, it took a couple of days for our hearing to return to normal, but it
was worth the look on his face!
Oh yeah, the subject line is the brand name of the speakers, properly
spelled. I however prefer the spelling "rectalinear". (;->)
