Hi Pete and those left standing,
Methane is also the prime gas in natural gas supplied via the mains.
Being colorless and oderless a trace element must be added to detect
leaks, giving it that distinctive smell. In the case of the natural gas
of which you speak, the trace element comes from the well, but is still
used to detect leaks by IT'S distinctive smell although most of the time
we wish those leaks would remain undetected.
In my case, so much "stuff" spews forth from my mouth it's hard to tell
which orifice will provide the proper gas mixture. In the case of the
cop, he was looking for ethane aldehyde but got a mixture of methyl
compounds. Good thing the balloons didn't leak or there could have been
an explosion caused by the highly volitile mixture. Even without
ignition, there could have been a highly volitile COP!
BTW, hang the petrol prices, the VXAmobile runs on "bottled" gas...
