OE does not open attachements by default.

Yes, it does open email. It does not open (and thus run) attachments.

I have the preview pane enabled, and look at every incoming message.
If you think it is possible to give me a virus when I do this, prove it
by sending me one. That should be quite simple if OE behaves the
way M1CUK claims. I'll let everyone know if I get such a virus.
