Hello Hank and all,
No, subs DON'T FLOAT on air, they TALK on air. YUP! I heard several on 
20M today, must be some kind of special event. The best signals came from 
Florida where someone strapped a vertical to the conning tower.
If you really wanted to test my lid theory, why didn't you toss your 
antenna into Lake Wobegon to work that submarine? The results could have 
been published in the Ham column of the Prarie Home Companion.
Now to check a little farther down the bulls list to see if anyone knows 
what happens when a sub blows ballast...
