Ian, G0TEZ hoped the Graf Zeppelins would come back. This might
be happening. There are companies in Holland and Germany planning
to let that happen. They want to to use them for cargo transport
and also for the use as a crane. It would be cheaper.
I don't think they will be using them for transport of people.
I saw an old man on german television some months ago who once traveled
with a Zeppelin before WO-II. He said it was a quiet and majestic
way of traveling. One could see the landscape beneath, all the time.
It really was a "ship in the air" he said. Only the very rich could
afford the tickets in those days. He also said, where ever the huge ship
landed, crowds gathered to see it.
I'm sure if Zeppelins would fly again, people would go on board
perhaps not to travel from A to B but to enjoy the thrill.
