You are correct.....
The regulations insist that all halogen lamps normally used at close
quarters are UV filtered. These particular lamp units are fitted with a
lens.
The lamps you were thinking of were the 50w jobs built a a unit with a
glass reflector. The open ones are only intended to be used for display
purposes, those which are glass fronted can be used for normal
illumination.
