Hi all experts.

No Broad band here yet so dial up only and internal Smart Link 56k Modem.

Now I have already put out a bull requesting help in getting what turns out
to be the fastest of my stock of available modems but is also silent ?

AT command set is not that much help but I was wondering if anyone knows how
to interprit the S Register code ? I can get a display of these by using the
AT&V Command and they range from S00 to S88 all with a 3 digit Value.

But are they dependant on a specific modem or is there some conformity ?

Be handy to know what decides if the modem gives audio when dialing or not ?

My list of modem commands (Basic Hayes) gives L(n)(0-3) Volume
Then it gives M(n) (0-3) to enable speaker Mode.

That is about all I can find relevent so far, but is it a fault with modem
itself and or the PCI connection or one of these settings ?

Knowing what S register should be set would help me determin this I feal ?

If I recall correctly then this Modem may well be from a PC with on board
sound that was faulty so damage to Modem Audio side is possible ?

I know almost everyone is now using broad band but Hey !!! if it keeps
packet flowing with semi interesting topic, then why not ?
