Here I had also such a problem:
pc1, pentium 150, maxtor hdd, 1.2GB, W98II, tsthwin+agwpe+baycom runs.
pc2, pentium 150, seagate bigfoot, 2.24GB, W98II, tsthw+agwpe+baycom...no
info on the screen...transmitting ok, I could see the bbs responded, but
nothing on the screen!
so I switched to the soundcard...and now all ok.
After 2 years:
The bigfoot crashed....and was replaced by the maxtor hdd..and now pc2 runs
ok with the baycom modem...on the same comport(2) where it did not run with
the bigfoot drive!
Still working ok with pc2, as it has soundcard to use for mmtty...
I have read some of switching the comport off in the bios under windows,
but that was no option, in windows it was used to for the telephone modem
for i-net...and after each use a restart to swich on the comport was to much work.
Another thing that I discovered was that the baycom modem receives packet a
lot better than the sound card! The download file which took 15 minutes to
download with use of the soundcard took 5 minutes to download with the
baycom modem! Distance to the bbs: 20km, qrg: 145MHz.
