Hello all.
Recently I downloaded the latest update of Zone Alarm..the freebie
version.
Its filename is zlsSetup_61_744_001_en.exe, the computer is running
Win98SE. It downloaded fine as always but refused to install. I then
downloaded another version with Win2K PRO on another drive on the same
computer. This time it installed pefectly and subsequently I have done it
again on a friend's computer also running Win2k PRO but a different CPU.
That too installed perfectly.
In case the Win98SE download had corrupted during download I transferred
the successful update file from the W2K drive to theWIN98SE drive having
deleted the originally retrieved version. That too refused to install in
exactly the same way.
Has anyone else who still uses Win 98 and 98SE had a similar experience?
That is if anyone does still use W98!!!!!
I recall that some years back I noticed that a new version was not
suitable for Win95 that I was running at that time. So I wonder if anyone
out there has had a similar experience and that Zone Labs have dropped
support for W98 and Win98SE as they did for Win 95. I can find no
suggestion on the Zone Labs web site that this is so.
Should it be surprising that Microsoft have just announced the total
dropping of support for Win 98,98SE and ME? A coincidense or a conspiracy
theory?
Any comments please?
