No, you cant connect USB to USB, sadly it doesn't work like that. For a few
pounds you can get a USB to USB networking gizmos that enable you to plug
two PCs together. From experience they USB to USB things cost more than a
ntework card. About 3ukp gets a PCI net card based on a Realtek8139 and the
USB gizmos are about 9ukp.

I've got shedloads of ISA cards if the machine has an ISA slot?
