Could it be a leftover Victorian woman followning mum's instructions
"Just grit your teeth and think of England."? These days it's common for
a man to be on the dole while his working wife supports the family with
the poor economic conditions there. Your schools' picture books were
terribly mixed up if a woman chopped wood (19th Century) and fixed the
car (20th Century). Well, here women chop wood under certain
curcumstances but it's uncommon but not too uncomon for them to be crack
mechanics. Queen Elizabeth was assigned to the Motor Pool during WW@ and
did HER part. And you thought royalty never got dirt under their
fingernails.
Nothing PC about it, America AND England were BUILT by strong,
independent women! Now how 'bout your shielaghas? I'll bet you have your
female versions of Crocodial Dundee. The only madness is the Orwellian
New Speak, I tend to ignore it.
