Viruses in the Computer

During my last trip I visited many friends, and they all had computers.
There I detected, that 2/3 of all these computers were infected
by viruses, without that the owners had any idea.
Nearly all of them had antivirus programs installed ...
This shows clearly, that the installation of an antivirus program
does not protect a computer from viruses!
The viruses entered into the computer due to incorrect
operating practices of the users.
Most antivirus programs do not check the download of files,
or do this very incomplete. Many times, the cause was exchange
of diskettes and self burned CDs which contained viruses.
Therefore the following has to be observed strictly:
Never install a program directly through download, nor open a
downloaded file directly. Instead, save all downloads into a
directory and virus-check this directory before opening!
(For NORTON AV: Right-click on the directory and then
click on "check for virus".)
Check all diskettes and CDs you obtain for viruses
before opening them!
(Disable "Autostart of CD" to prevent automatic opening!)
