The IARU may well be going to the WRC's but at the end of the day NOTHING
happens with new allocations or regulations unless national governments
who can do what they like say so.

The IARU are just a talking shop, making all the right noises for years and
years and years.

Govts hold ALL the power - the IARU and a bunch of Mickey Mouse radio
societies only get what they are given.

It has little to do with any of their requests or demands.

If the IARU had any real power we'd have our amateur bands in much better
shape than they are now.

Where's the QRO 160m now that coastal radio has all but gone ?
Where's the wideband common 160m allocation across europe ?
Where has a proper 40m band been for 65 damn years !

We should have had an allocation around 5Mhz 30 years ago when we still
had 7MHz even worse than today. Thats why so many pirates on 6.6Mhz.
The IARU are a bit slow off the mark.

Why do we still have so many fixed services footnotes in our 40m and *20m*
and 17m band allowing non amateur stuff to operate legally ?

Has the IARU ever done anything about these ?

10Mhz, it's taken the IARU 26 years to realise we have too small an
allocation. Why start campaigning now for something we might get
in another 26 years time And probably with FOOTNOTES spoiling it.

The IARU should have started lobbying within a few years of getting it's
foot in the 10Mhz door - not now.

And all the IARU can do when it's bored is moan about 300bd HF packet
and QSL buro's.

The IARU lacks influence - end of story.
