Hi John and any lurkers left on packet,
Boy, that's an old one you dug up, it's been a long time since anyone heard
from Andy and thankfully so, when his split personality joined two other
trolls they drove everyone but a few diehards like me away, effectively
driving the last nail in the coffin. I was surprised, he was active in the
Soutgate ARC, his "Trolley Wally" is legendary, and privately a gentleman and
all round nice guy. Anyway...
You sure have a long and interesting history on Amateur Radio, but just an
FYI, in the US it's not just a hobby, it's officially classed as a radio
service giving hams like all public servants immunity from being sued while
in the performance of our duties. That's very important because of our well
known service of providing backup communications during special events like
marathons, and health and welfare traffic during times of emergency.
Unfortunately some EMCOMM whackers Re: G8MNY > regular on air
finally got it tuned it wouldn't stay tuned, I gave up, moved it into the
attic that stopped silly neighbor complaints, and made it into a fan dipole,
two dead birds with one stone.
SUSY RADIO (Why shout? I can hear you.) reminds me of my ex sysop VK2TV Ray's
involvement with Tank FM 2WET (;->) in Kempsey, NSW where he was chief cook
and bottle washer. Eh, that's engineer and presenter, being out of range
(naturally) of the 1KW vertically polarized transmitter I used to listen to
him on the internet and still listen to the Country music oriented community
radio station. There's a law that says they have to broadcast mostly
Australian music, fine with me, they're CW style is great.

That's just great, good for you! Since I haven't operated a pirate radio
station since 1971 and now being licensed I have too much to lose, my giving
back has taken another direction. Since I had some fine elmers, now it's my
turn to elmer, I help fellow hams at every opportunity. Some used to look
down their noses at this no code Technician, but when I strutted my stuff
they learned respect, and most of all, never judge a book by its cover or a
ham by his license class. You don't know what I know and I know more than yoy
