It means what it's always meant, Windows doesn't know what to do with the
hardware.

It is if you want to do RAID.

The controller is fitted to your mother board.

OK, flippancy over. RAID means Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. It is
a way of achieving data redunancy cheaply. The cheap bit comes from the
fact that hard disks cost nothing nowadays. RAID achieves data redunancy by
allowing you to use several disks and make them appear as one to the PC.
There are many different 'flavours' pf RAID, one is where you have two
identical capacity disks, as you write files to one, the RAID controller
mirrors that on the other disk. Should one disk develop an error you can
replace it and recover all the data from the other disk.
For all of this to work you need a RAID controller. To you use a RAID
controller with Windows you need a driver. You have the controller, all you
need is the driver. This should have come with your computer on the CD that
had all the other drivers. Or you can use Device Manager on WinXP and tell
it to find the driver, it should ask about visting Windows Update via the
internet.
However, if you dont want to RAID your machine and everything is working
fine now, you can just ignore this.
