It's a program trap to catch errors during the running of the program.
Mutex is a shorthand for mutual exclusion and it's a way for multiple
threads or processes to gain exclusive ownership of a shared resource.
Assuming that "Douglas" is the programmer then he'll know why his threading
code is asserting. If he doesn't know why then I would suggest you run, not
walk, to your PC and uninstal it as fast as you can.
