Go to run >> type MSCONFIG (enter) and look at the section marked
BOOT.INI ...

Use options Noguiboot and minimal to get a "real" DOS boot up from XP.

(Note - use Ctrl+Alt+Del to re-enter MSCONFIG when you wanna go back
to your normal boot routine).

The main problem is whether your DOS progs will be able to talk to
your laptop's modern hardware which will usually have been made to talk
to a Windoze driver only.
