Hello everyone!
I have just been released from each of three local hospitals, and the had
the pleasure of seeing my Medical and Hospital Benefits Association paying
thousands of dollars on my behalf! Nice feeling :-)
This 'holiday' has caused me to appreciate a laptop PC, and to leave the
'clunkers' in the shack with only an accasional check on packet activity.
There is one thing I would like to get sorted, with your help.
I use several PCs, and each is fitted with a 'mobile rack' to enable hard
drive swapping; the same applies to 3-1/2 inch floppy drives, including
an external USB drive for the laptop. Each of the PCs has DOS 6 installed
along with WIN 3.1 or WIN 98, so that I can run DOS programs, 'Paket 6' and
antenna aiming, radio control and 'Instantrack' for satellite tracking.
The laptop runs XP Professional which gives a pretty picture, and is handy
for DVDs and displaying in 'Power Point', 'Quick Time', and the interactive
technical DVDs that I have collected. But being a DOS and Command line
operator from way back, I miss the hands-on, keyboard experience when using
the laptop and XP-Pro. It's just a bit excessive for many of my needs.
Question...Can I install DOS 6 on the laptop, and get a DOS CMD line, or will
it confuse WIN XP. Is there a way to get the CMD line from within XP?
Thanks in anticipation,
Dick. VK3ABK.
