Ask a neighbour to charge it! :-)
Lead acid cells should be charged from a constant volatge supply. If you
connect it across a 13.8V PSU, it will get reasonably charged but not fully
charged. You realy need 14.4V to fully charge it. Also the hotter it is, the
less charging voltage is needed.
The worst way to charge these batteries is with what is termed slope charging
by manufacturers. This is where your PSU cannot deliver the voltage and current
and so goes into current limiting and lowers the voltage. As the charge current
drops, the voltage rises. This results in the shortest life expectancy.
If you have net access, check out the websites for YUASA and also look up
info on the Unitrode UC3906 (from Texas Instruments).
