  95.603 Certification required.

  * * * * *

      (g) Each Multi-Use Radio Service transmitter (a transmitter that
operates or is intended to operate in the MURS) must be certificated in
accordance with 90.203 of this chapter.

Oh, look at that. The proposed rules for MURS actually reference Part 90.
Am I wrong or were you ignorant of the rules, Stewart?

Subject: Software for Packet

Hello, I am new to the area of packet radio. I was wondering if it is
possible to use software with a sound card to operate packet instead of
using software and a TNC? Does anyone have any info on this?

Thanks,
David

MURS may be a Part 95 service, but it's a splinter off of Part 90.
In any case, both Parts 90 and 95 have radio certification procedures
that amateur radio does not.

Given your promotion of 6 VHF sliver channels, I had to believe you were
ignorant of these. I apologize.

Turnkey amateur radio operation in 900MHz and 2.4GHz? There's a flood of
Part 15 operation in those bands (my WaveLAN 900MHz network and Proxim 2.4GHz
network, and my 900MHz cordless telephones count) - but there is a dearth of
turnkey *amateur* equipment for these bands. I don't confuse the idea of
"amateurs
using Part 15 consumer gear" with "amateur operation".
