Tuning around 14.268 Thursday night (0100 UTC 8-Sept-00), I heard a Morse
code ID (which I didn't catch) then an unfamiliar set of tones. I was unable
to decode it with any of the modes in MixW32. It wasn't SSTV either. I know
that's not mucth to go on, unless you were there.

Mark

Do you already have a 9k6-capable TNC? If not, I don't understand why
anyone would pay more for a bulky single-band Radio AND TNC
combination, when the Kenwood TH-D7A does it for a little over $400(and
dual-band to boot).
Am I missing something here?

When you want anything beyond AX.25 keyboard qso's, you will have to use
the KISS mode. That sucks.
To be seriously usable for 9k6, it should at least do 6PACK.

PSK31 requires a (1 second, I think) tail of single tone at the end of
a transmission. This is likely the delay you are experiencing. It is
required to lock the squelch on the other end so that the receiving
station does not get a bunch of random characters from the noise
immediatly following the end of your transmission. It is not a good
practice to eliminate this "tail".
