Trying to do something with radios that don't exist, licensed into
a service that does not yet exist, to avoid using Ham Radio ...
.. cross-posted to three groups ... it's a troll certainly.

With what?

Your theory is incorrect.

We have a cell-based packet radio network
here, with overlaid small / medium / large cell sizes.

You used to have such a thing in Southern California.
Isn't it there anymore?

MURS is not a cell based system. It is a technologically simplistic
point-to-point channelized system, several technology-generations
inferior to amateur radio. I thought you were the fella hyping
what "technically aware" would do if you could just find a few 12-year-
olds to help you out.

I was shocked when I recently went to LA! There is no Ham
activity at all! I finally picked a repeater and stated my call, and
waited for a response. It just morse code ID'd and that was it.

Hmm, try another one. "You probably don't know, but this is a
private repeater." OK, sorry, try another one. "Hey buddy, are
you new in town? Any idiot would know this repeater is private."
Oh, sorry, tried another 5 and got morse-code and voice ID's.

Got on 146.52 and stated my call. waited 5 minutes and stated it
again. "Hey mutha-fucka, stoopid shit, we don't want to rap
whiff none oh dat white trash fum back east."

Silence. Nothing else heard in a half-hour scan.

Hmm, must be a baseball game in town or something...

Time for the FCC to take all that wasted spectrum back to
"we the people..."

Classic non-sequiur.

Advantages to whom? I don't know of any amateurs
who want to perform business on the air, and
since we all have nonrestricted access to the
internet by other means, why would any technically
aware person want to access it via amateur radio?

We have them here in the Dallas area. They like to
use the repeaters for their free phone-patch and
I've even heard them dispatching plumbers to fix
 toliets and washers and dryers.

Sounds to me like someone wanting to set up a wireless internet service
business using the MURS frequencies....
