Subject: airmail for older windows ?

I am using an older laptop for my portable digital work.I would like to
receive internet email when away
from home with it. I use a kam plus on pactor and the laptop wont run
windows 95 so am stuck with ver 3.11.
Is there a version of airmail or winlink or any other software that may
receive internet email via pactor ?
Thanks to all who read this.

Hi all, you could use a standard terminal program - the commands that
AirMail2000 uses are standard BBS commands much like what you would
see on your local VHF packet BBS.

Any programs that let you make custom macros would help too.
You might be able to emulate much of what AirMail does with the
macros.

I hope this helps, Dale

Hmmm ... urls didn't get into my first reply.
Here are some places to look for commercial services.

http://www.pinoak.com/

http://www.downwindmarine.com/sailmail/sailmail.html

A Google search for "AirMail", "SailMail", "PTC-II", "WinLink" and
various other keywords will provide a lot of information on what is
out there, and how it is evolving from the Ham Radio test/development
mode into commercial use.

It appears that the command-line-capable version of WinLink is being
phased out. The new version requires the use of specific software, (WL2K)
and does not appear to work with anything else. The WinLink team may,
according to the latest information on some of the web sites, add the
command-line capability back into the software in some future release.

If you want to pay for the service, there are commercial AirMail
providers that might do what you need.
