If 9600 baud will be good enough, the no repeater solution
might work. Gear is much cheaper, on the order of $500 - $700
per end including antenna arrays, feedline, power supplies.
In this area the terrain is similar, with long valleys and high mountains.
We have several 9600 baud links that span 65 to 100 miles and
work very well. None at present that span more than 100 miles,
because the terrain prevents such links.
