than mundane copy. Once you reach that kind of skill level, then, it
becomes just like talking on the fone, or the Inet. But, you will tend
to find that those that can an do run that QRQ comfortably, have a lot
to say, good yarns and history to spin, and can be great fun in a
round table group of a dozen or so. You will also find, that once
you reach that threshold, you really don't need the certificates and
the diplomas with the gold stars.... the proof is then in the pudding,
i.e., the ability to use the code. That is where it is at......

Good Luck, and hang in there.....

If it does the job for you, more power to you. I tried it on
a 486/66, wasn't happy with the results, and shelved PSK31 until
I upgraded. My anecdotal evidence (which is all it is) says it's
not viable. Your anecdotal evidence (ditto) says it is.

The logical conclusion is that PSK31 is borderline on a 486.

A beginner might have difficulty getting it to work. Hence the
strong recommendation to consider another approach.

Hello Rob,

I am running an FT1000D with a DSP-599zx for SSTV, HELL and PSK31. the
connections are as follows:

Sound card OUT to Audio B IN on the DSP-599zx, 1/8" stereo plug to RCA plug
Line B OUT to sound card in, 1/8" stereo plug to RCA plug
Computer serial port to DSP-599zx RTS in , Standard 9-pin to 9-pin serial
port cable. NOT a null modem cable
PTT out to TX PTT in on the FT1000D, RCA to 4-pin DIN on my radio
RADIO RX Audio to DSP-599zx Audio in A in, I'm running with -3db
DSP-599zx Line AOUT to RADIO TX audio IN

All of the inputs and outputs of the DSP-599 are programmable. We extended
the ranges of these to accommodate a number of different radios. ( I used the
DSP-599zx to set the line out in the DSP-599zx so the TX is not overdriven.
This is the most critical adjustment of the bunch.)

The complete manual supplement for version 5.0 upgrade including the PC/RADIO
mode will be on our Webster shortly.

For those radios and systems that require absolute isolation between the radio
and computer (most do not; neither my FT1000D nor Randy's IC756 required
additional isolation). We will have an announcement concerning those radios
that do need extra isolation on the web within the next few weeks.

For those of you who have asked, WinPSKse V2.0 is now available on
www.psk31.com .

Most of the requests I've received about versions 1.4 and earlier have been
implemented.
