I have an old 1200 baud TNC2 modem but I want to experiment by hooking the
radio
up to my computer using the soundcard. Detecting 1200 and 2200 Hz tones would
not
be hard. The radio (Kenwood TM-451E) is supposely 9600 ready, but you are
saying
I wont be able to detect that on the computer?

No I am not saying that... because of the low-frequency requirements
(remember, it does not use tones) it will not work very well, but it can be
done. Software exists that does it.
