transmitter. The received audio (rig to sound card) does not pass thru
RigBlaster.

Its biggest benefit is automatic switching between the mike and sound
card. It's easy to hook up *but* you can build a sound card to rig
interface with about $10 worth of parts from Radio Shack.

  Hi Mark,
I have and use the RIGBlaster. Works great. I use it on PSK31. It
comes with a CD full of software for all the digital modes that use a
soundcard.

RIGBLASTER is VERY EXPENSIVE for a SIMPLE circuit that you can build for a
fraction of the price!!

Save yourself a lot a money and build yourself your own interface at a much
LOWER price EVEN IF you use the typically over priced parts sold at
RadioShack. You should be able to build an interface for $10 to $15 US.

It is my understanding that the CD that comes with RIGBLASTER contains
software that you can download off the internet. Considering that updates
to much of this software happens VERY frequently, don't be surprised if the
software on the CD-ROM is out of date.

Furthermore, it is my understanding that the purchase of a RIGBLASTER unit
does NOT grant you ANY licences to ANY software. They are EXTRA on top of
the HIGH selling price. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

In my view, it would be better if you build your own interface and with the
money you saved support the hard working HAMS who developed the software by
purchasing software licences.

It's not very expensive, $80 is all. It's VERY well made and works.

True I suppose, if you want to do that. I like the ability to be able
to use my mic at any instant, the RIGBlaster let's you do that without
having to unplug your homemade cable.

Possibly true, however it will still work and you can still
register the software with the author.

You can do that either way.

$80 is VERY expensive to some people, and I don't mean your typical
tight-fisted ham.

Highway robbery! $80 US is over $130 Australian dollars, my interface
cost me less than $15. Two transformers, a 4N25, a 1N914, a couple of
resistors and a few plugs.

Doesn't your rig have an accessory socket? Use it -- no need to
interface your rig to the mic socket.

Personally I would be very embarassed to admit I could not build
myself a circuit to do this.

Subject: RTTY & Digital HF

I have gotten the bug to play on HF Digital so I dug out my OLD PK232
from the garage and low and behold it still works. I find the I do not
reconise all the digital stuff I am hearing out there.

1) Are there still RTTY nets that happen at a regular time daily,
weekly or a freq there I will usualy find RTTY?

2) I found what I thought was a RTTY station and I tried and tried
(with a very good signal) but I think I have the baud incorrect. When
I was in it before (On VHF) we usualy used 60 Word per min (45 Baud)
and Mars used 100 Words per min (I do not remember the baud that goes
along with that, I tried 75 baud but I still could not copy)

3) I was on 40 meters and was using LSB that is what I use for phone
