Subject: pk232 command set

Hi There,

I dusted off my old pk232 mbx and noticed that I don't recall the command
set much anymore.

I get some of the basic one -- mycall, txdelay. Is there a website out
there that may have the commands documented?

Thank You
Tony

There is a joke there - something about a wife suddenly having PMS when
she sees a Tiny2 firmware one!

FSK = the RF carrier is moved over a certain offset to transfer 0 or 1.
no tones involved. the parameter is the offset between the frequencies.

AFSK = an audio tone is modulated on the carrier, normally using FM
modulation (when it is done using SSB, the result is the same as FSK).
there are two tones. for 1200 baud they are 1200 and 2200 Hz.

9600 baud is normally done using FSK.

Subject: Wake up TAPR!

Inexpensive Long-Range High-Speed Wireless Networking is now possible.
It is time for TAPR to drop the FHSS radio, and their "not invented
here" attitude, and start educating people on how to set up high-speed
stations and networks.

After years of development, it is evident that TAPR's 900Mhz FHSS radio
is going down the path of TAPR's other infamous doomed radio project of
the early 90's: The packetRadio. Worse still, many amateurs look to
TAPR for guidance in high-speed wireless networking, and since they
don't see any information coming from TAPR, they wrongly assume that
high-speed networking is too difficult. With simple $120 Part 15
wireless networking cards available, who needs a FHSS radio that
operates on a band where Amateurs are secondary users? TAPR needs to
wake up, face the facts, cancel the FHSS radio, and start educating the
public on how to build inexpensive high-speed wireless stations and
networks.

TAPR's place in history is becoming tarnished...

I don't know if you are aware, but TAPR is pretty much dead. The new
site is www.dandin.com as Dewayne found them all a job. It looks like
they specialize in getting Government grants as an 8-A company.

You can tell how much Greg was behind all the Web site, because since his
resignation it has become a purely static shrine. Nothing gets updated
anymore.

You could probably win both BoD membership and the Presidency if
you were to run, as the other members are mostly silent and show up
for any voting requirements, but that's about it. To look at the Web site,
none of the other members do anything useful if that is the evidence.

You're the second person today that said I should run for an Amateur
Digital body committee position. Earlier today, D. Stussy(KD6LVW) told
me I should run for a Southern California Digital Communications Council
(SCDCC) postition. I said; "No thanks, I don't want to get old before
my time". Now, I should be the TAPR president. What next? The ARRL
presidency?
