I'll be using it. 20 meters will no doubt be the best band to work.
It seems to be the most used band for that mode right now. 14.069.5

Could any of the PSK31 programmers give thought to makeing a
program for the palm pilot platform? Something akin to Digipan let's
say? I'd like to see it personally. Any thoughts?

I don't know much about the palmtops. Do they have sound cards?
Do they have the MIPs to run PSK31?

They decode mp3's just fine - so running an fft and a few correlations
shouldn't be any problem. Efficient implementations of PSK31 don't require
much horsepower - look at WinPSK. I think it uses about 4% cpu power on my
desktop machine. Most CE devices have audio input, I'm not sure about the
Pilot though.

DOH! I forgot, I'm not sure if they can use a soundcard actually.
Maybe this isn't possible after all.....

Apparently it doesn't matter, as long as it's free... :-)

Why is bit rate important for a keyboard-to-keyboard QSO?
Hellscreiber's speed is fast enough. Sure, I can type much faster
than the symbol rate, but the software has a type ahead buffer.
No big deal.

All the various Hell modes are great for keyboard QSO's.
In particular, I really like PSK Hell!! PSKHell is a great weak signal DX
mode.
In my view, PSK Hell is much more sensitive than PSK31 and is much better at
dealing with polar flutter. And since I can't type any faster than the
speed of PSK hell, PSK Hell is perfect for me.
I wish more HAM's experimented with PSK Hell.
I get frustrated with PSK31 since it can't handle polar flutter. I have not
been able to make any QSO's with stations where the path is over the poles.
Of course, since Hell sends characters as images, you really cannot send
binary data.
But each mode has its purpose. In my view, the Hell modes are great for
keyboard QSO's. And the software is FREE!
