Subject: What about the 512 KB SRAM Chip
My KPC-3+ came with 128K chip and I am interested in a low cost upgrade to the
512K.
I haven't even priced the Kantronics chip. Nor do I know it's mfg-p/n.
Any ideas or solid info?

They probably consider that they are not an electronics distributor, and
have to send the chips in single quantities, including an instruction
leaflet. Plus they might have to be available on the phone to answer
questions about the installation.
Electronics distributors may quote single-unit prices, but they are not
prepared to ship single chips all over the country to lots of clueless
persons... Their single-unit prices are for clients that usually take
larger orders that may include a couple of random single units.

Rob
I agree that KANTRONICS prices probably also make provision for support.
They may even include some instructions. (But the instructions are already
in the KPC3 and KAM manual).
It is not hard. You replace the chip and typically move a jumper.
I can go into the local electronics distributor and buy ONE 128 KB SRAM chip
for less than $10 US. They have no problem selling me one chip. In fact I
did just that. (The chip was even packaged to be sold as a SINGLE item --
just like many Radio Shack items).
I agree that most electronics distributors probably do NOT want to deal with
shipping small orders. It is likely that the shipping and HANDLING costs
charged by the local distributor would be as high as the chip alone (e.g. $8
US).
But even if I asked the local distributor to ship me ONE chip, it is likely
that the total will be less than what KANTRONICS charges for the chip alone
(without the extra shipping charges).
In my view, KANTRONICS prices are outrageous
73's

Subject: WinPSK and WinPSKse need to get together
WINPSK version 2 has all that you could ever want except dual receive.
WINPSK version 2 by MOE has adjustable AFC, Adjustable panning width.
It also allow the Macros to be assigned to PF keys.
WINPSKse has dual receive.
NEITHER has a true capture file. that is something that should be
there in a terminal program. That means that it would save
automatically the incoming text when active, ask if you overlay and it
would, close automatically when you close the program.
It would be nice to add the dual receive to WINPSK version 2. Then
you would have the best of both worlds. It would be nicer if the
settings dialog in WINPSK ver 2 were more like that in se and if you
could set the backgrounds but at this point I guess version 2 is my
choice again.
I would really love to see those two get together so that all the best
of both could be used.
At least it would be nice if the names were more unique. :-)
OTOH they are both free, so maybe I ask too much.
