community! I'm sure this method will earn an honored place in
his emergency services plan serving over 1,000,000 people. What

Application situation? -- Just exactly what "situation" is that?

Fact is, we are swimming around in applications, and when "new applications"
are seriously discussed, nobody seems to have any idea what these "new
applications" might be. This is because there is no particular need for new
applications. The only people talking about an "applications situation" are
tcpip goons who appear to "think" that it serves their purpose to create an
atmosphere of discontent within the hobby with vague, unsupported claims
about a great "need for new applications" that simply does not exist.

Yes, that kind of activity is stupid, destructive and ultimately
self-defeating but after all, this IS the amateur tcpip community we're
talking about.

Hey, I've got an idea! Why not just blame the whole situation on "Joe Ham"!

Oh, sorry: I'd forgotten that you had already tried that.

Rob, you're not as "eaten up" with the typical amateur tcpip stupidity as
many of your fellow enthusiasts, but still you end up mindlessly parroting
the same old catch-phrases and spreading the same negativity about the hobby
and it's participants that has become the hallmark of amateur tcpip.

When amateur tcpip enthusiasts develop a preference for the truth and stop
trying to utilize old outdated propaganda technique from the 1930's to
undercut the hobby, I for one will simultaneously develop a great deal more
respect for them. (And you.)

What "applications" do you want?

Everything from email to chat to file transfer is available trivially.
You want web pages? Just put 'em on air, it is NO big deal.
Anything you can do on the internet you can do over ham radio.

If you want something SPECIFIC then let us know WHAT it is you want.

If you are stimulated by new ideas, and if you can think for yourself =
rather than simply accept what Charles D. Brabham dishes out, I think =
you will find this letter of interest. I begin with critical semantic =
clarifications. First, Brabham says that anyone who disagrees with him =
is ultimately uncontrollable. That's his unvarying story, and it's a =
lie: an extremely crafty and daft lie. Unfortunately, it's a lie that is =
accepted unquestioningly, uncritically, by Brabham's cronies. His little =
world is far from reality. And let me tell you, we must honestly treat =
the disease, not the symptoms. Does that sound extremist? Is it too =
putrid for you? I'm sorry if it seems that way, but that's life. Okay, =
now it's time to offend a few people. Actually, I hope not to offend =
anyone, although I will never give up. I will never stop trying. And I =
will use every avenue possible to stop this insanity. Brabham's older =
prophecies were jaded enough. His latest ones are surely beyond the =
pale.=20

Ladies and gentlemen, Brabham and I disagree about our civic duties. I =
feel that we must do our utmost to suggest the kind of politics and =
policies that are needed to restore good sense to this important debate =
as expeditiously as possible. Brabham, on the other hand, believes that =
he has achieved sainthood. And if you think that he can change his =
indecent ways, then you aren't thinking very clearly. He will damage the =
debate about this issue, because we will have to spend lots of time =
correcting misunderstandings that are directly attributable to his =
assertions. Please don't ask me to separate people from their roots and =
cut their bonds to their natural communities. I simply can't do that.=20

Just because licentious sadism exists and has for a long time, there is =
no reason for us to accept it from Brabham. The "facts" he has often =
stated contain some serious distortions. Some are blatant; others are =
subtle. One of the most foolish is his discussion of avaricious ruffians =
(also known as Brabham's lackeys). Some doctrinaire mouthpieces for =
libidinous unpleasant emotionalism have raised objections to my proposed =
social programs, but their objections are all politically motivated. =
When I was little, my father would sometimes pick me up, put me on his =
knee, and say "Those who think that Brabham has mystical powers of =
divination and prophecy should think again." Worst of all, our =
children's children would never forgive us for letting him make me the =
target of a constant, consistent, systematic, sustained campaign of =
attacks. What I mean to say is that he has stated that black is white =
and night is day. That's just pure antipluralism. Well, in Brabham's =
