I already have an external DSP filter. I really don't need the DSP upgrade
(even though it does have some advantages such as adaptive DSP filters for
Pactor).

It is too bad that you don't just offer a firmware upgrade for the old
PK-900's (like you do for the PK-232MBX).

Sometimes I wish that AEA was still around.

In the January 1994 issue of QST, there is an article describing an
inexpensive SSTV interface. I have lost this issue of QST.

Does anyone have a copy of this article?? Is it simply another HAMCOMM
style interface??

Rob,
I checked in some of our archive Hitachi data books. While I didn't find the
precise part you mentioned, generally Hitachi medium speed SRAM with an LL
suffix is low power standby current (spec'ed at 15 uA vs. 50 uA normal). We
have used this type of SRAM in various projects over the years and have had no
problem with the LL or equivalent version from any manufacturer. (Backup
batteries last longer and resetting the SRAM to all zeros by pulling the
battery may take a lot longer!)
Most ICs are in very short supply at this point, so you will find problems
obtaining many parts at low prices with fast delivery.

The HY628100A is not a Hitachi part but a Hyundai part. Go here for a PDF data
sheet.

http://kcs.hei.co.kr/models/sram/sramcomp/1M/HY628100B.PDF

This part only comes in the SOP and TSOP-1 package (according to Hyundai). I'm
assuming that your's is in a plastic DIP package? If so you can get a similar
part from BG micro for cheep.
